Changing Behaviour Patterns

At any given moment we are bombarded by millions of bits of information and yet … our mind can consciously only ever process 7 +or – 2 bits at a time. Unconscious mind however, is a lot more powerful accepting information continuously.

Our mind comprises of the conscious mind and the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind is the King – if only we knew it. Our conscious mind is the attention hogger. 96% of the information is stored in our unconscious mind while the conscious mind holds only 4% of the information. The King has bulk of the knowledge, but in its modesty, does not come forward. It is the attention seeker conscious mind that is easily accessible to us. So imagine, most of us don’t even know how much we know. We limit ourselves by the 4% that our conscious mind knows.

The knowledge within our unconscious mind is there for the long haul. This is the knowledge that impacts our behaviour patterns. If you are targeting change or wanting to improve absorption of information, target the unconscious mind!

The 7 + or – 2 bits of information that our conscious mind processes depends on a number of factors. These factors together form our unique filter system through which we pass the information thrown at us. By tweaking our filter system, we are able to access that untapped knowledge held by our unconscious mind, bringing about behaviour pattern changes.
